Stravinsky, Mozart, Haydn, Tchaikovsky
Date: Friday 30th January 2015 19:30
Venue: Manchester Cathedral, Manchester
For this atmospheric event at Manchester Cathedral, we’re delighted to welcome back Booths who will be providing a pop-up gin bar from 6.30pm. Sample a number of unique artisanal gins pre-concert, then select your preferred drink for the interval.*
Following a sell-out performance at Manchester Cathedral last year, we return to this stunning venue for the best of strings. From Tchaikovsky&s heart-wrenchingly elegiac Serenade in C to Stravinsky&s eerie and mysterious Concerto in D for Strings, experience some of the greatest music ever written for string orchestra. Hear why Tchaikovsky considered Mozart to be ‘The Musical Christ& in the fast-paced Divertimento in F, and experience the virtuosity of Camerata leader, Adi Brett, as she performs Haydn&s Violin Concerto in C. Adi plays a 1752 Guadagnini violin, which has been kindly loaned to Camerata by arts philanthropist Jonathan Moulds.
‘The playing of the Camerata strings was so outstanding it felt as if they had been dipped in liquid gold…&– Seen and Heard International
