The Yellow-Hammer’S Song In Stafford

Considered one of the most talented and respected pianists of the younger generation, Benjamin Grosvenor,joins our leader, Giovanni Guzzo,and principal cellist, Hannah Roberts,in Beethoven&s beautifully lyrical Triple Concerto.G&abor Tak&acs-Nagywill bring his limitless musical imagination, emotional depth and sizzling energy to Beethoven&s Fifth Symphony– the most iconic and timeless of all orchestral works. Legend has it that Beethoven&s famous motif came to the composer from a yellow-hammer&s song as he walked through the Prater Park in Vienna. You will also hear a miniature masterpiece by Camerata&s 2013/14 Sound and Music ‘Embedded& Composer-in-Residence, Laura Bowler.

TWO STRADS ON ONE STAGE

We arethrilled to announce that principal cellist Hannah Roberts will be playing a rare Stradivarius cello exclusively for our season finale in both Manchester and Stafford. The cello isgenerously on loan from Simon Morris, Managing Director ofthe world’s leading sales brokers in fine stringed instruments, Beares. In Beethoven’s rarely performedTriple Concerto, Hannah will be performing as one of the soloists along with Benjamin Grosvenor and leader Giovanni Guzzo, whoplays a 1709 Stradivarius violin on extended loan from arts benefactor Jonathan Moulds – so a rare opportunity to hear two Strads on one stage.

The culmination of this year&s Stafford Composer in Residence sees the premiere of a new piece of Stafford music composed by members of local community groups.
