Upclose – With Bill Ryder-Jones
Date: Thursday 09th October 2014 20:00
Venue: Manchester Cathedral, Manchester
This season&s UpClose begins with an edgy collaboration with Manchester Literature Festival and Bill Ryder-Jones, former lead guitarist from The Coral. We are proud topresent the first live performance of Ryder-Jones& landmark solo album If…Enjoy a craft beer from our pop-up bar, kindly provided by BrewDog, from 7-8pm and again after the concert from 9-10pm.
Composed and recorded as a tribute to Italo Calvino&s playful, postmodern novel If On A Winter&s Night A Traveller, If… is a collection of cinematic songs that fuse exquisite strings and sublime orchestral movements with emotive, vocal-led pieces. Inspired by composers like Clint Mansell and Abel Korzeniowski, If… establishes Bill Ryder-Jonesas a talented composer and songwriter in his own right. A unique collaboration, this event will feature Ryder-Jones on guitar and vocals/strings and orchestration from Camerata in the inspiring surroundings of Manchester Cathedral.Punctuating the evening will be extracts from the novel, recently recorded for the occasion by actor, John Simm.
This event is unreserved seating (seat numbers displayed on the booking website do not apply).
