Acclaimed pianist and chamber musician Benjamin Frith joins Manchester Camerata Ensemble for a programme featuring repertoire for piano and wind instruments. Mozart proclaimed that his Piano Quintet was ‘the best thing I have so far written in my life&. Beethoven was certainly inspired by Mozart’s charming work; both Quintets put the piano to the fore, at times seeming like mini piano concertos. Two works by French composers complete the programme; Poulenc and Francaix were both talented pianists and these attractive and lyrical works showcase the virtuosity of the musicians.
