Composers’ Project Workshop Day Winner
Posted on February 12, 2014
On 21 January we held our annual Composers’ Project Workshop Day in the Royal Northern College of Music, giving young composers from RNCM, Chethams and Salford University the fantastic opportunity to showcase their music and gain feedback.
The workshop was coached by Head of Conducting at RNCM Clark Rundell and composer David Fennessy, who led the process of rehearsal, discussion and development for the eleven composers, with the help of a small ensemble of Camerata musicians.
Scottish composer Tom Harrold is the lucky winner who will hear his music performed live at our Carmen Reworked concert on 27 April at Albert Hall, Manchester. However, this Radcliffe Trust scholar and RNCM masters student is no stranger to this, having begun a blossoming career with worldwide performances of his music from orchestras such as BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Chamber orchestra and Aurora Orchestra. Tom has also had BBC broadcasts and recordings of his work, and won multiple prestigeous awards, such as the BBC Proms/Guardian Young Composers’ Competition 2007. This talented young man is set for exciting things in the future – so watch out for him!
