PROFILE: Visual Artist Netia Jones

Visual Artist Netia Jones is collaborating with Manchester Camerata to create live digital visuals for a series of concerts in February centred on Schoenberg’s rich, evocative early work Transfigured Night.
Following a scholarship in Modern Languages and Literature at Oxford University Netia Jones has worked as a director/designer & video artist in opera and theatre.
She is founder and artistic director of Transition_company, launched in 2007, which presents music and opera with live video and film. She is also director of Lightmap, a mixed media partnership with whom she has collaborated on video, film and installation projects in the UK, Europe and Canada. |
Netia Jones has used video and projected media in all of her stage work, focusing on baroque, and modern or contemporary music.

Work in opera includes Alfred (Arne) and Partenope (Handel) both at Royal Opera House, Linbury Theatre, Susanna (Handel) and Flavio (Handel) both at Queen Elizabeth Hall, South Bank, and national tour, with Early Opera Company, the UK premiere of Fanferlizzy Sunnyfeet/Fanferleischen Schonefusschen (Kurt Schwertsik), for Broomhill Opera at Wilton’s Music Hall, the development of a new opera Your Chance (Martyn Harry) with Broomhill Opera and a new site-specific opera Cross-Currents (Errollyn Wallen) Broomhill Opera at Tilbury Docks, Aci, Galatea, Polifemo (Handel) for Batignano Opera Festival, Italy, and La Voix Humaine (Poulenc), Opera North Projects.
